Sony Packaging & Print

Print Manager & Designer: Robert Smallwood

During my time as Print Manager at Sony, I worked across packaging design, print production, and out-of-home campaign materials for major home entertainment releases. My role included building precise print mechanicals for Blu-ray packaging, preparing production-ready files, managing layout consistency, and ensuring all assets met brand, legal, and vendor specifications.

I also supported large-format out-of-home signage, helping translate key art into polished physical placements while maintaining quality across scale, format, and finish. This role gave me a strong foundation in production, design systems, file accuracy, and the technical side of bringing entertainment campaigns from concept to final print.

For A Kind of Murder, I was responsible for the end-to-end completion of the alternate packaging design and Key Art for Sony’s home entertainment release. My role included adapting existing key art into a new packaging layout, building production-ready mechanicals, and ensuring the final design met all print and vendor specifications.

Beyond packaging, I also repurposed and resized the artwork for social placements and rental video-on-demand streaming platforms, making sure the campaign assets translated cleanly across both physical and digital touchpoints. This project allowed me to manage the full production process from layout through final delivery while maintaining consistency across multiple formats.
